** Before entering into Career Gate Community College, I had been a waitress for 10 years, and upon completing my course I have successfully found a job as an Administrative Assistant/Receptionist in 6 short months. As a single parent trying to better myself and become independent, I struggled and sacrificed many things, but through hard work and dedication I am now looking at a successful and satisfying career. I was able to find a great job, it was NOT easy, I became very frustrated and irritated when trying to find the job, but with patience and commitment you can achieve your goals. THANK YOU to everyone involved at CGCC. You gave encouragement, support and really believed in those who were trying their best. I commend all of you. I believe that with CGCC's dedication and commitment to helping people better themselves that there will be many people with new and better careers as well as life styles for many years to come - Debbie V.**

**Since going through the Computerized Accounting and Automated Office program, I have begun to see that I have a lot of potential and that as long as I am willing to apply myself, I can get anything done. I have just acquired a general office job to get me through the fall when I will be attending Kwantlen University to further my training with a degree! Today I have some very definite goals in my life and through the support and encouragement of the Career Gate team, I now believe in my ability to achieve them. Thank you to everyone for giving me the chance in the first place, for suffering through my endless interruptions and questions, for always having faith that I would do well in my tests and for greeting me every morning with a smile! - Tanya B**

**My message to all the students is that I have really enjoyed my school at Career Gate. Here the students are the first priority, regardless of who you are or what you are. Everybody is treated fairly and equally. All the teachers and administration staff are tremendous, very helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. **I want to express my gratitude to Career Gate for making it possible for me to enhance my computer skills, while allowing me the flexible schedule I needed as a single parent. I now work for a small social services agency that works with the mentally handicapped who are experiencing adverse challenges. I am the exclusive secretary for 10 psychologists/consultants, and without a doubt, my training at Career Gate has made stepping into this job remarkably smooth. It is still amazing to me that a year ago, I was struggling with what I wanted to do and now I have this incredible dream job. Thank you again for your care, support, kindness and flexibility. - Melody O**

** I have learnt that I have always loved a challenge, but in this class we had 9 students that were not coded, since I have been there 1 student has moved to Edmonton, coded means they are academically challenged, not that I had to tell you, but obviously I have been busy, I have even been putting in extra time to help by making up words and using an a.d.d. program and I am over seeing it. My making a difference in a child's life is important to me. Everyone at the school is happy to see me still there, also the teacher I am working with has said that everyone has come up to her and said that she finally got a good E.A. in her class. I can't remember how many times I have THANKED YOU for helping me to get here, I know that I made the first step, but you helped in so many ways for me to be where I belong, I have never felt this good in all my life, maybe my saying that I wanted to be a teacher when I was 6 years old had alot to do with it. Does everyone think of what they may have been had they chose the proffesion that they thought of when they were in grade school. I really didn't think it was possible because I couldn't go to college, but this profession works for me, more than I even thought. - Sandra H**

**My time at Career Gate Community College was well spent and a great investment. I received high quality teaching and relevant information in regards to working in the area of special needs. I feel confident in the education I received and equipped to begin a career in this field. I know there is much to be learned on the practical side, but I believe what I know at this point is a positive place to start. I am fully aware that I will be learning new ideas and ways of providing the best environment for any individual I am given the privilege to work alongside.- Alicia K**

**Suzanne and Robert are very nice, down to earth people who have created a school with a warm, relaxed and caring atmosphere. They were always there for me, as I am sure they were for you. I approached school with positive attitude, a willing mind and an open spirit. With my teacher Todd’s wit and unique way of making me think, even though it hurt at times, school was a blessing. I am very grateful to have been blessed with such a gifted teacher. I am certain that you other grads have had similar experiences with your instructors. When I first walked into Career Gate College I saw an orange scooter in the front entrance. Apparently, it was part of a raffle for early enrollment in the school. I wanted it. So I visualized it into my life. From that moment on, it was my scooter. I even asked Robert to get off my scooter one day when he was moving it. I won that scooter! Another way of looking at it is that I set my goal on attaining that scooter. I focused my energy on it, saw it in my driveway and made it into a reality. So I say to you my fellow graduates it is okay to visualize your dreams. More than okay. It is a must. Look at me. I am semi retired and moving on into a new career. Change and challenge is growth. Feed your thirst for knowledge, follow your dreams. Do this for yourself. No matter how small or large your goals are. Make a plan, and never say no to learning. It is never too late for change. - Darlene C**
Update to Darlene's career - Darlene has been with the Women's Resource Society in Mission for the last two years and is loving every moment of it!
